History of Light

A long time ago, people did not have light bulbs. They thought of other ways to light up an area. One of those ways was fire. People would use wood to make a fire. The fire kept them warm and helped them see in the dark.

Then, people used oil from animals for light. They would set this oil on fire. It would burn like a lamp. It would only burn for a short time.

After many years, Thomas Edison made the lightbulb. He was an inventor. This light bulb could stay lit for many hours.

Now, we can just turn on a light when it gets darkat night!
