Kerið Crater

Kerið Crater (care-ith CRAY-ter) is a crater in the south part of the country Iceland. A crater is an area of land that’s shaped like a bowl. Kerið Crater is like a deep, oval-shaped bowl. It has steep sides. The sides are made of reddish rock. They also have some green moss.

This crater formed thousands of years ago. It formed when a volcano caved in. Now, the crater has a lake at the bottom. The lake is shallow and looks blue. With the blue lake, red rock, and green moss, Kerið Crater is beautiful to look at!
