Weavers in Peru

Some people in Peru have lived in small villages for a long time. These villages are in the mountains.

People in these villages raise sheep, llamas, and alpacas. These animals have lots of hair called wool. People use the wool to make yarn. Then, they dye the yarn to make it colorful. They weave this yarn together. Weaving is a way of making cloth.

Most women in these villages spend all day weaving. They weave outside together. They weave clothing, bags and more. They use bright colors.

They also weave many patterns. Each village has its own patterns.

This photo shows a weaving. What patterns do you see in it?
